There can be multiple urine spots but each spot has probably been contaminated only once. Your dog probably has not repeatedly revisited the same spot. As a result, the urine has not soaked into the carpet's pad. Since medium to large dogs can release a considerable quantity of urine at one time, these urine spots may be considered to be heavy contamination.

Procedure:

  1. Blacklight inspection at nighttime to locate each spot.
  2. Each spot will be saturated with a maximum performance odor control product. A wide variety of enzymes are blended into the product to digest the urine contamination.  The product dwells on the carpet for 72 hours ensuring maximum removal. Each spot will typically remain wet for 24-48 hours – the enzyme is most active when wet and is necessary for maximum odor removal.
  3. After at least 72 hours of dwell time, the carpet will be professionally steam cleaned.
  4. If any stain remains, we will provide our urine stain treatment.

Estimated Cost: (or see below on how to save money by treating the odor yourself)

1. Blacklight inspection at night:             $150.00 (This is done after normal business hours and is priced accordingly - It must be dark for the blacklight to work)
2. Each gallon of enzyme                         $60.00
3. Carpet cleaning                                     see estimates page

Typical amount of enzyme needed:

  • Light odor with several spots in each room - 1-2 gallons for an average size home.
  • Moderate odor with moderate spots in each room - 2-4 gallons for an average size home.
  • Moderate odor with many spots in each room – more than 4-6 gallons for an average size home.
  • Heavy Odor – see heavy contamination.

Every home will require a different amount of enzyme depending on the actual level of contamination.

Please note the following:

  1. After odor treatment and carpet cleaning, the urine will still show up underneath the blacklight even if the odor and stain is gone under normal light – urine penetrates the dye sites of the carpet fibers and is permanent underneath the blacklight.
  2. The enzyme contains a moderate to strong fragrance. Most of our customers find the fragrance to be pleasant. Those who may be sensitive should not remain in the house during treatment and until after the carpet has been steam cleaned.
  3. This procedure does not treat the pad or the subfloor for odor.
  4. A percentage of odor removal will be guaranteed in writing based on the severity of the odor, treatment method, along with other factors. Even though many cleaners claim to do the same thing, there is a vast difference in their level of success.

Depending on the grade and condition of your carpet it may not be worth saving.

DO-IT-YOURSELF - Treating odor yourself can be just as effective as professional odor removal if you use the right product and follow proper procedure - it will save you money!
